Roane State Community College and Morgan County Career and Technical Center are seeking business sponsors for a VEX Robotics Competition event that will be held Feb. 24-25 at Roane State’s Clinton location.

The VEX Robotics Competition, presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation, is the largest and fastest growing middle school and high school robotics program globally with more than 16,000 teams from 40 countries playing in over 1,350 competitions worldwide.

Roane State’s Clinton Higher Education and Workforce Training Facility will host a state VEX Robotics Qualifier Tournament Competition Feb. 25. Approximately 10 high school and middle school teams are expected to participate.

“This is a great opportunity for area businesses to show their support for students pursuing their interests in science, technology, engineering and math,” said Gordon Williams, director of Roane State’s mechatronics program. “The students work incredibly hard, and the competitions are always exciting.”

Area teams involved in the competition get settled in and prepare for the next-day competition on Friday, Feb. 24, and the battles begin around 9 a.m. Feb. 25. The public is invited to watch the free event.

Various sponsorship levels are available ranging from $50 to $500 and up. Sponsorship packages may include logo placement on banners, ring announcements during the competitions, placement in the event booklet, and naming of competition elements after sponsoring businesses.

Businesses interested in becoming a sponsor are asked to contact Roane State’s Gordon Williams, williamsg1@roanestate.edu, (865) 354-3000 ext. 4899.
