Volunteers in our program provide children, between the ages of 6-15, with friendship, guidance, support and fun by matching them with positive adult mentors - "Big Brothers" and "Big Sisters". Our Bigs are expected to spend time sharing their favorite activities and hobbies with a child at the child's school or in the community. There are two programs to choose from: Community Based and Site Based. A Community Based Big must be at least 23 years of age and spend time with their Little 2-3 times a month for at least two hours and continue with this commitment for at least 12-18 months. Site based Bigs meet with their Little one time per week every week for one hour at the child's school and requires a one year commitment. Please note that we are unable to verify volunteer hours for scholarships, sororities, fraternities, or community service requirements. |

We are a hospice company serving Blount, Loudon and Roane Counties. We need patient care to provide comfort for those in their end-of-life journey. Some of our patients have a limited support system or no one at all. A smile and a gentle word of care can mean more at this time of life than any other. There is no "hands on" care. We have a great need for patient volunteers in all three counties. These volunteers help with the patients and their caregivers for companionship, caregiver support to talk or sit while the caregiver runs errands among other requests such as preparing a meal. There is no "hands on" care and the visits last from 20 minutes to two hours. The visits are done according to the patient, family needs and volunteer availability. |

As a non-profit, volunteer-based agency, our mission is to empower CASA volunteers to advocate on behalf of abused and neglected children in juvenile court. Remote Area Medical (RAM) is a 501c non-profit that hosts mobile pop up clinics in the United States and around the globe. At our clinics we provide free medical, vision, and dental care to patients at no cost. We do not charge the communities that we go to. All the supplies, volunteers, and equipment is provided by Remote Area Medical. RAM also has opportunities for students to volunteer at Veterinary Clinics in the Knoxville area. We have many general support positions that need to be filled. RAM is also in need of volunteers at our headquarters located in Rockford, TN just south of Knoxville. At our headquarters Roane State students would learn valuable skills. They would have the opportunity to make glasses, learn about dental and vision equipment, help load trucks, and work in many other areas of RAM. We would not have them just filing paperwork. Without the help of volunteers at headquarters these clinics would not happen. RAM also has other opportunities to volunteer in fun ways in the community - we are in need of volunteers to help at Smokie's baseball games. The jobs could be making popcorn, pouring sodas, handing out programs & much more - it is always a fun time. The Smokie's Baseball Team makes a donation to RAM for each person that volunteers! This is an excellent opportunity for students who are interested in human services/social services, because they have the opportunity to gain interviewing and assessment skills in addition to learning about referral sources in the community. |
