Students in Roane State Community College’s dental hygiene program won numerous honors in the Knox Area Dental Hygiene Society’s scientific dental research poster board competition.
The students competed against their counterparts from Hiawassee College.
First place: Alma Almanza, Jennifer Cowan and Savannah Patterson (second-year students)
Second place: Krista Bunch and Royse Yankey (second-year students)
Third place: Samantha Henes and Mandy May (first-year students)
Third place: Kayla Burchfield, Han Vo and Andrea Layne (first-year students)
Third place: Katie Ford, Tory Nelson and Emily Lewis (second-year students)
“Not only did the students take all positions, but for the first time in history, three groups of our students tied for third place,” program director Melinda Gill said “I’m truly proud of the dedication that our students put into all that they do and to see them recognized for their hard work is outstanding.”
