Mission Statement and Goals

Mission Statement

The Radiologic Technology Program of Roane State Community College is a 22-month specialized program designed to provide the student with career opportunities in the field of radiology science. The college awards the student an Associate of Applied Science degree in Radiologic Technology and the student graduates with the knowledge and skills of a competent entry-level radiologic technologist.

Goals

The RSCC Radiologic Technology Program seeks as an overall goal to provide students with a complete educational and clinical experience in order to ensure students will achieve all skills necessary for employment as competent entry-level radiologic technologists. This overall goal is further defined as follows:

  1. The Program expects to produce graduates in a 22 month period that are clinically competent.
  2. The Program expects to facilitate the development of applied skills in effective communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving in graduates.
  3. The program expects to facilitate the development of professionalism in graduates.
  4. The Program expects to produce graduates that are satisfactory health-care employees.

In addition, the Program seeks to:

  • accurately provide information to the public regarding the program's application process, goals and policies, and provide students with specific and detailed guidelines for successful completion of the program;
  • build strong relationships with accessible clinical facilities by developing partnerships to provide a variety of supervised educational opportunities, which will enable the students to achieve desired outcomes;
  • provide effective avenues of communication for program faculty, provide faculty with clearly defined responsibilities, and promote the development of skills useful in measuring and evaluating student clinical performance;
  • on an ongoing basis assess the needs of students to provide a safe learning environment using the most current learning materials and equipment available;
  • on an ongoing basis assess job placement rates to ensure graduates with employment and/or continuing education opportunities.
