Why start here instead of going straight to a university?
First, you will save thousands of dollars. Your tuition at Roane State will be about half of major in-state universities, and Roane State students receive millions of dollars in financial aid. Second, your classes will be small, giving you plenty of opportunities to ask questions. Third, Roane State’s world-class faculty will know your name, your interests and do everything they can to help you succeed
By the time you transfer, you will have saved money and be academically prepared for the next step. Our transfer students tend to do better in their junior years at universities than students who make the leap straight from high school.
Plus, transferring from a community college is more convenient than ever thanks to Tennessee Transfer Pathways and articulation agreements.
Tennessee Transfer Pathways provide Roane State students with guaranteed, clear-cut roadmaps to bachelor’s degrees. Every student entering Roane State can select one of the majors with an accompanying transfer pathway, complete required courses, earn an associate’s degree and transition seamlessly as a junior at a Tennessee public university.
All earned credit hours will apply toward a bachelor’s degree in the same discipline. If followed exactly, the pathways guarantee admission to all public universities in the state, except for the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where competitive admission standards still apply. Some specific academic programs may have competitive admissions based on enrollment.
Tennessee Transfer Pathways available at Roane State include accounting, art (studio), biology, business administration, chemistry, civil engineering, computer science, criminal justice, economics, English, exercise science, foreign language, history, information systems, mass communications, mathematics, mechanical engineering, physics, political science, pre-physical therapy, pre-health, pre-nursing, pre-occupational therapy, psychology, sociology and theatre arts.

Roane State also has articulations agreements with four-year schools that streamline the transfer process.
The agreements help students:
Do you want a be a teacher, sales consultant, nurse supervisor, mechanical engineer, market research analyst, physician, pharmacist, psychologist, computer programmer or biological scientist? These are just a few of the careers our transfer programs can help you achieve.*
