NOTICE – IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT NEW EDUCATION BENEFITS
If you are a veteran with at least 90 days of active duty you may qualify for the new post 9/11 MGIB (Chapter 33). Please be advised that we, your school certifying officials, cannot tell you which benefit to choose. There is a full explanation of the new benefit on the Department of Veterans Affairs web site, www.gibill.gov It is highly recommended that you study the information on this site before you make a decision about switching to Chapter 33. Note that there are different tiers of eligibility ranging from 40% to 100%, based upon your time of active service. There are also certain rules about the length of time you have to use the benefit. Your decision to use Chapter 33 benefits is irrevocable. There will be no VA deferments under Chapter 33. WE MUST HAVE YOUR LETTER OF ELIGIBLITY BEFORE YOU WILL BE CERTIFIED – WE CANNOT CERTIFY YOU BASED SOLEY ON YOUR APPLICATION TO VA.
