News: Sports rewind: Herman tallies back-to-back 20-point games

Sports rewind is a look back at recent results for Roane State’s men’s and women’s basketball teams.

Roane State women

The Roane State women’s basketball team played in Georgia Perimeter College’s GPC Classic Nov. 25-26 in Decatur, Ga.

The Raiderettes (3-4) lost to South Georgia Tech 71-62 and fell to Jefferson College 74-61.

Against South Georgia Tech, Jill Herman scored 20 points and added six assists. Kayla Gibson tallied 11 points and five rebounds, while Shannon Parks scored 10 points. Takyah Gilmore led Roane State with nine rebounds and three steals.

Roane State trailed by only a point at the half, but shot only 27 percent in the second half.

Herman had 24 points in the loss to Jefferson College. Gibson added nine points. Gilmore scored eight points and grabbed eight rebounds.

Roane State men

The Raiders were off for the Thanksgiving break. Roane State has a weekend road trip coming up against Columbia State (Dec. 2) and Jackson State (Dec. 3).
