Deans are responsible for acquainting new faculty members with official policies and practices regarding tests, examinations, and grades as they relate to students. Student achievement will be evaluated in the courses offered, and students and instructors should review tests to evaluate student achievement.
Faculty members are charged with the responsibility of administering and evaluating examinations. Secretaries and non-professional staff are not permitted to administer examinations for a faculty member unless the course is offered via distance education. Testing may then be referred to the Testing Center at the Main Campus or the Oak Ridge Branch Campus.
Caution and security must be maintained in the administration of tests. The division secretary is responsible for the security of test materials when reproducing such materials. Each faculty member is ultimately responsible for the security of all test materials including procedures for test instrument preparation, evaluation, and security.
No final examination may be given, either to a group or an individual, before the regularly scheduled examination time.
Make-up examinations will be given for absence due to an official college trip or provable emergencies such as illness (physician's statement), death in the family, court duty, or military service. In other situations, make-up tests are administered at the discretion of the faculty.
Certain tests may be requested of all students or any subject of students such as certain majors or graduating sophomores. These tests may be given at the discretion of the institution for the purpose of diagnostics, evaluation of general learning or other purpose which the college proposes.
