Macy Crain drove in two runs in a 7-1 win over Tennessee Wesleyan

Sports rewind is a look back at recent results for Roane State athletics.

Softball and Baseball

The Lady Raiders started the season strong with a 6-4, 7-1 sweep of Tennessee Wesleyan JV. Bridgit Cook picked up the win in Game 1. Jaylen Garrett went 2-for-3 with a single, double and two runs scored. Macy Crain was 1-for-3, and Erin Ealy was 1-for-3 with a double.

Kat Bazel drove in three runs with a triple, while Kwanne Bazel had two steals.

In Game 2, Morgan Page picked up the win. Garrett was 2-for-3 and scored two runs. Crain was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Missy Buchanan was 2-for-2 with two RBIs.

The baseball team defeated St. Clair County Community College 12-1 on Feb. 17. Olney Central College swept the Raiders in a Feb. 19 doubleheader, 5-3, 8-0.

Men’s basketball

The Raiders (21-7) finished out the 2011-2012 home season on a high note, coming from 11 points behind midway through the second half and pulling out a 69-67 win over Chattanooga State on Feb. 15.

Jonathan Maybank scored 13 points, while Cameron Porter added 11. Cedric Clinkscales, Kinard Gadsden-Gilliard and Rod Drummond scored 10 each. Clinkscales and Gadsden-Gilliard grabbed 12 and 11 rebounds, respectively

On Saturday, Feb. 18, the Raiders dropped Cleveland State 82-76. Clinkscales also had a monster day on the glass with 14 rebounds to go along with his 21 points. Other double-figure scorers were Gadsden-Gilliard with 18, Maybank (13), and Kevin Altidor (10).  

Women’s basketball

The Raiderettes (13-15) fell 68-57 to Chattanooga State on Feb. 15. Jill Herman scored 18 points, while Crystal Garrett had 10 points. Roane State lost 84-79 to Cleveland State on Feb. 18. Herman had 28 points and seven rebounds, while Kayla Gibson scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Shannon Parks added 11 points.
