Welcome to the RSCC Music Department Virtual Choir and Jazz Band Projects 2013!  These projects are part of an annual alumni concert and we’re so happy to have your participation! 

Virtual Choir

The idea of the process is to create a video choir and band based on individual video submissions.  The videos are recorded and submitted by RSCC Music Department alumni.

The Virtual Choir uses a brand new composition by Dr. Geol Greenlee entitled “Diversity, Similarity” based on a haiku written by RSCC “Same Difference Diversity Contest 2012” honorable mention winner, Chris Arnold.  The song is a minimalist, rhythmically driven choral work beginning and ending with spoken lines provided by RSCC faculty and instrumental accompaniment provided live with the finished video product.  The Virtual Choir entries make up the bulk of the work, an SATB arrangement of overlapping melodic and textual fragments.

The Virtual Jazz Band

The Virtual Jazz Band uses a freer form in which individual video submissions solo over a predetermined chord progression.
