If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then Roane State’s Healthcare Documentation Specialist/Medical Scribe courses may be just what you are looking for!
A Medical Scribe works alongside the physician in a medical office or hospital setting assisting with the documentation aspect of the patient care. Medical Scribes document the verbal communication between the patient and physician and provide real-time transcription of physician notes. They may also perform other related tasks such as the retrieval of medical test results and scheduling medical tests and procedures, etc.
Our courses provide a hands-on approach to learning the daily operations and skills needed to be successful as a Medical Scribe.
Daily operations may consist of:
Classes may be delivered in a combination of web, hybrid and traditional classroom. Traditional classes are at the Oak Ridge Campus.
Classes may be completed in 9 to 12 months after completion of any learning support classes (longer if necessary).
Enrollment is on a space available basis, if admissions criteria are met.
Medical Scribe has been integrated with the Healthcare Documentation Specialist Program curriculum in order to provide a more comprehensive education for the medical scribe.
Financial Aid: Healthcare Documentation Specialist Program courses are covered by financial aid for applicants who meet the financial aid guidelines.
The electronic medical record (EMR) requires more detailed patient care documentation than ever before. The additional documentation requirements have increased the need for healthcare support workers such as Medical Scribes.
Medical Scribes are typically employed in physician’s offices and hospitals.
