Smart Start

The Smart Starts are based on best practices for student success including the following principles:

  • Students are encouraged to complete 30 credit hours as soon as they can.
  • College level Math and English should be taken immediately following successful completion of Learning Support.
  • Speech 1010 and COLS 1010 are highly recommended during the first or second semester as excellent foundational courses and to explore career options.
  • For the element of choice and exploration, the Smart Starts include a choice to enroll in a targeted elective(s) based on student’s interest and/or potential major.
