Dual Credit

Dual credit is credit by assessment. This is not the same as dual enrollment. Under dual credit, you take a high school course and if you successfully pass an end-of-course assessment, a pass/fail grade will be awarded to you. If you plan to attend Roane State, the course credit will be applied to your transcript. During the school year, the high school instructor incorporates college competencies into the secondary curriculum.

You will receive the credit hours for courses passed upon admission to Roane State after high school graduation. Contact the Admissions and Records Office to confirm credit is transferred into the college computer system.

For more information on Statewide Dual Credit, please visit the TN Department of Education website or call the Dual Studies Office at (865) 882-4504.
