*Important note: Students should complete the application to graduate in RaiderNet in order to receive important emails regarding commencement ceremonies.

Location

All ceremonies are held on the Roane County Campus in the gymnasium (driving directions) (maps). Once you arrive to Roane State, there will be many signs directing you for parking and directing you to the gymnasium.

Student check-in and rehearsal is located in the adjoining Dunbar Building, bottom floor, in the Vann Student Center.

Cap & Gown

Caps and gowns can be picked up from the RSCC Bookstore at both the Roane County and Oak Ridge campuses starting Monday, April 15, 2024. You do not need to pre-order or reserve your cap and gown. There is no additional charge for your cap and gown, and they are yours to keep. In order to ensure the best fit, please know your approximate height and weight.

Only graduates can pick up their cap and gown. To pick up, please have your student ID or another government-issued ID with access to your R number. Regalia will also be available on the bookstore website to have shipped to your residence.

For those who have achieved academic honors (3.5 GPA or higher as of Fall 2023 semester), you may purchase a gold honors tassel for an additional fee. The bookstore has a listing of students eligible for the gold honors tassel.

First Generation student stoles will be given out the day of the ceremony upon check-in.

Friday, May 3, at 7pm

Students unable to attend their assigned time, may request a change of ceremony by emailing the Commencement Planning Committee at millersc2@roanestate.edu

How many guests can I bring?

There are currently no limits on the number of guests you may bring. Please note that when the gymnasium capacity is reached, guests will be asked to use overflow seating located in the classrooms and theatre to view the ceremony via live video.

Will there be an opportunity for pictures?

Grad Images is the official photographer for the event. A professional picture will be taken as graduates receive their diploma on the stage and a second photo will be taken with a formal backdrop. Proofs will be available online a few days after the event.

Special Note

Participation in commencement ceremony does not mean you have graduated from RSCC! Final grades and final evaluations need to be completed prior to the granting of the degree/certificate. All course substitutions, final grades, exit exams (if applicable), and other college obligations must be completed by the end of your graduating term or the posting of your degree will be extended to future terms.
