About Momentum

What is Momentum?

This is where you go to access your courses. It is Roane State’s learning management system. Momentum is the online area where you take your online courses and your traditional courses post additional materials.

What is Brightspace by D2L?

Momentum and Brightspace by D2L are the same thing. D2L is short for Desire2Learn, the company that hosts our site. Momentum is the name Roane State chose for our online learning area.

How do I access Momentum?

Go to the Roane State homepage, click on the Momentum link at the very top of the homepage near the search box. Or, click on the direct link, if you want to bookmark it in your web browser. Log in using your RSCC username and password. This is the same for RaiderNet and D2L/Momentum. Your password is typically your last name followed by your first and middle initial. If you have forgotten your password, go to the RaiderNet login page, and follow the “Problems Logging In” link which provides instructions on how to reset your password. Alternately, you can call the RSCC Help Desk at 865-354-3000, extension HELP (4357) for assistance with your username and password.

How do I navigate Momentum?

When you log in to Momentum you will be on the site homepage. This is where all your classes are listed. To enter a class, simply click on the title of your class, for example ENGL-1010-W01. Once you enter your course, you will be on the course homepage. Each class is unique and while navigation is similar, each teacher may choose to design their class a little differently. Please check out CTAT’s Student Resources for more information on how to navigate D2L.
