Types of Distance Learning Classes

Online Classes

See Web Class Offerings

These classes take place entirely online. Some online classes may have time or occasional travel requirements:

Classes use Momentum, a learning management system that hosts content such as your syllabus, course materials, tests/quizzes, discussion boards, and grades.

TN eCampus Classes

See TN eCampus Offerings

These are similar to Roane State's online classes, except that your instructor may be from another Tennessee college or university and you use a separate username/password from your Raidernet username/password. These courses are accessed from the Tn eCampus website eLearning log-in page. It is possible to get an entire degree by taking these courses as part of TN eCampus. They may use online or proctored testing.

Hybrid Classes

See Hybrid Class Offerings

These classes are a combination of online and traditional learning. They may use online or proctored testing.

Interactive Video Classes

See IDEA Class Offerings

These classes, often called IDEA or Zoom classes, take advantage of video conferencing technology to bring multiple Roane State campuses together at once. For example, your instructor may be at the main campus, but you and several of your classmates may be sitting in a classroom at any of the other Roane State campuses scheduled for this course.
