Tyler Carpenter had a busy first semester at Lincoln Memorial University.

As a nursing student, he had to complete a rigorous schedule of clinicals. What the Roane State graduate did not have to worry about was paying tuition.

Carpenter, of Corryton, attends Lincoln Memorial University on a full tuition scholarship as the recipient of the 2014 Lincoln Memorial University transfer scholarship.

“It’s full tuition, books too,” Carpenter said. “It’s awesome to go to a great school with nothing to pay back.”

Carpenter said nursing interests him because he enjoys caregiving and science. Roane State assistant professor of biology Claudia Cummings was impressed by Carpenter and nominated him for the transfer scholarship.

“He is very deserving,” she said.
