Roane State Community College’s women’s basketball program swept the top Tennessee Community College Athletic Association awards.

Head coach Monica Boles was named TCCAA Coach of the Year. Sophomore guard Shauntae Brown is the TCCAA Player of the Year, and Haley Cornellison is the Freshman of the Year.

Brown was also named first-team all-conference. Shauntae’s twin sister, Shanae, was named second-team all-conference along with sophomore Kassidi Freeman.

“Congratulations to Coach Boles, Shauntae, Haley, Shanae and Kassidi on their well-deserved recognition,” Roane State President Dr. Chris Whaley said. “They are great representatives of Roane State, and we are very proud of them.”

Boles posted a 23-6 overall record and 16-2 conference record. Shauntae Brown, a 5-7 guard from Frankfort High School in Kentucky, averaged 12.8 points per game, 7.8 assists per game and 5.2 rebounds per game.

Cornellison, a 5-11 guard/post from Roane County High School, started 16 games. She averaged 8.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.

Shanae Brown averaged 7.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. Freeman, a 6-1 post from Madisonville (Sequoyah High School), averaged 5.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game.

“I am overwhelmed with pride for all of the accomplishments this outstanding group of young ladies achieved this season,” Boles said. “We have had a wonderful team and experienced a great deal of success. I feel blessed to have been a part of it.”
