Roane State CC falls 10-8 after big Chattanooga St. comeback
Roane State CC held a comfortable six-run lead in the fourth inning, but a big comeback by Chattanooga St. ended Roane State CC's hopes in a 10-8 loss Monday at Chattanooga, TN.
Derek Basler had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the first and seventh innings.
Brennan Swindoll got the win for Chattanooga St. despite allowing seven runs over six innings. Brennan struck out three, walked three and gave up eight hits.
Colton Prather ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just two innings, walked two, struck out none, and allowed five runs.
The top of the first saw Roane State CC take an early lead, 1-0. Logan Jenkins singled to ignite Roane State CC's offense. A double by Derek then moved Logan Jenkins from first to third.
Chattanooga St. survived Roane State CC's surge and put up three runs of its own in the fourth. Chattanooga St. scored on an RBI single by Andy Clay and a two-run double by Jean Paul Rodriguez.
Chattanooga St. never surrendered the lead after the sixth inning, scoring four runs on a two-run double by Brandon Day and a two-run home run by Jay Rhoten.
After pushing across one run in the top of the seventh, Roane State CC faced just a 10-8 deficit. A fielder's choice triggered Roane State CC's comeback. Roane State CC's Logan Fleener to end the ballgame.
