Quilt Reflection

I feel that this quilt will help the children learn the different shapes of polygons and open their mind to math early in life.  With the ten different shapes, they have a head start on their education.  My feelings towards donating this quilt is that it’s for a good cause.  Yes I would like to keep it but I know that the babies could use it way more than I could.

When I am in a classroom, I would have a group project where each student would have a shape to make their quilt.  I think that this would be a perfect project for a fifth grade classroom.  It is a good age to introduce polygons.   Personally I have learned that sewing is not an easy thing to master and that coming up with the different angles in which to place the shapes takes a good amount of thinking.  You can take two shapes or more and make a total different shape. For example my diamond I used a kite, a trapezoid scalene triangles and a pentagon to make it.
