Full-Time Option

Two semesters. Classes begin in the fall semester.

Spring Semester
The traditional classroom schedule is 5 days per week (see schedule below). 
 
The clinical practicum course may be taken in the summer semester as space is available which reduces the classroom schedule to 3 days per week. Please note that delaying the clinical practicum will result in a delayed graduation date.

Special Notes
  • MDT 111 (Advanced Medical Transcription): Up to 5 hours may be completed outside the regularly scheduled class time. Instructor available only as scheduled above.

Part-Time Option

Up to 4 semesters, longer if necessary. Classes begin in the fall semester.

The part-time option is ideal for students who have family commitments or who must continue to work full-time while pursuing their education. These courses may be taken in the traditional classroom setting or online (Exception: Clinical practicum may NOT be taken online).

*MDT 112, Clinical Practicum may be taken in either spring of the second year or during the summer semester. A summer semester clinical is dependant upon the availability of the clinical site to schedule clinical hours during the summer months.

Instructor assists student in the traditional setting as follows:
  • assists in hearing unclear dictation
  • assists in helping student to choose term that appropriately fits the context of report
  • assists by helping student choose and utilize appropriate  reference to find spelling and/or definition of medical terms
  • answers all questions immediately
