Our Distance Education program offers flexible and convenient educational opportunities through video and Internet-based courses.
Web Classes
These classes take place entirely online. (A one-time on-site orientation may be required). Most classes use Momentum, a Web-based course manager that contains your syllabus, tests/quizzes, discussion boards, and course content. They may use online or proctored testing.
Regents Online Classes
These are very similar to our regular Web classes, except that your instructor may be from another Tennessee college or university. It is possible to get an entire degree by taking these courses as part of the Regents Online Degree Program (RODP). There is an additional fee associated with these courses. They may use online or proctored testing.
Video Classes
These class lectures are presented entirely on video. Some are DVD format and some are VHS. There may be a one-time on-site orientation.
Hybrid Classes
These classes are a combination of Web and face-to-face meetings. They may use online or proctored testing.
Interactive Video (IDEA) Classes
These classes take advantage of video conferencing technology to bring multiple Roane State campuses together at once. For example, your instructor may be at the main campus, but you and several of your classmates may be sitting in a classroom at the Loudon county campus.
Accelerated Classes
These fast-paced classes typically meet only one night a week, but there are three sessions of these courses to a term.
