The
RSCC Writing Center is here for you. Here are just some of the
reasons you might want to come see us:
-
We
are a friendly, informal, nonjudgmental place for people (whether
students, faculty, or community) to interact.
-
We listen and talk to writers currently engaged in any writing project.
-
We can advise you on many aspects of your writing, such as organization,
addressing audience and purpose, adding detail and examples, and understanding
the writing process itself.
-
We can help you learn to correct your own grammar and punctuation
errors, and provide you with handouts addressing common writing problems.
-
We offer writing consultations in which you can work with a tutor
on a one-to-one basis.
-
We
can show you how to conduct research, cite sources and avoid plagiarism.
-
We
can help you learn to compose on a computer. Our staff can show you
how to cut and paste, how to spell-check, and how to set up an essay
and a works cited page.
-
We
welcome novice computer users! We always have at least one lab tutor
available to help you use standard Windows applications, Campus Pipeline,
the Web, etc.
-
We
can show you how to use the Online Writing Lab.
The OWL is specifically geared toward RSCC writing assignments, and
provides many useful links as well as printable handouts of guidelines,
ideas and student essay examples.
