Course Description

This course is a general survey and analysis of the history of the state of Tennessee from the beginning of statehood in 1796 to about 1990. There is also a pre-statehood component that examines Native American history in the region (with an emphasis on the Cherokees) and the history of exploration and early settlement. Accepted for history sequence requirement at UTK, UTC, and MTSU. (Pre- or corequisite: ENGL 1010 or an ACT sub-score of 27 or better in English) Course availability determined by dean.
Roane State General Education course approved and designed for transfer.
