Wednesday, November 18 Join us for a screening of “Beyond the Wall”, a documentary that follows four D.C. public school students to China as they participate in a summer study program for disadvantaged inner-city kids. The film follows them as they experience the excitement and anxiety of embarking on a journey to a completely different culture and as they learn how to interact with the other students on the trip. Back in D.C. a year later, we see how the trip to China has given them a fresh perspective on the obstacles and opportunities on their path to adulthood. “Beyond the Wall” gives voice to these four inspirational and often funny teenagers as they navigate the limitations of their home situations and reach for a meaningful future. RSVP by close of business Monday, November 16th in Eventbrite. |
Thursday, November 19 Tune in for another installment of the IFLE Grantee Showcase Webinar series, this time featuring the Fulbright-Hays Seminars Abroad Program. Hear from teachers who participated in the 2015 summer seminar to China, and discover the 3 new programs that will be offered to Peru, Senegal, and India in summer 2016. |
