Apply for the TN Dual Enrollment Grant (TDEG)

Students who meet the dual studies criteria may apply for the Tennessee Dual Enrollment Grant (TDEG) available at postsecondary institutions; it is funded from the proceeds of the state lottery to assist high school students with college tuition. This is not the HOPE Scholarship, which is lottery money used to fund scholarships for college-age students. In other words, there are two pools of money funded by the lottery.

Tuition and fees total $500 for most dual enrollment classes.

The state dual enrollment grant allows you to take two classes at no cost.

By using Roane State's First Class scholarship – which is awarded in your senior year – you can take three dual enrollment classes at no cost.

Here's how.

Junior year State grant   You pay
Take 1st class $500   $0
Take 2nd class $500   $0
Senior year State grant  Roane State scholarship You pay
Take 3rd class $200 up to $300 $0

Remember, the state dual enrollment grant does not provide any funds for a fourth dual enrollment class. For a fifth dual enrollment class, you may be able to borrow money from your HOPE scholarship. Generally, a student needs either a 3.0 GPA or a 21 ACT Composite score to be eligible for the HOPE scholarship. Select the link below to see if you're eligible for HOPE or have questions about the Tennessee Dual Enrollment Grant.

The acceptance of the lottery-funded grant is optional. Students may choose to pay all fees. Fees not paid by the grant may be paid online, by phone at (865) 882-4515, or you may go to the business office on a Roane State campus or center.

Complete the Course Registration Form

Each semester, you must register for the class(ss) in which you plan to enroll. This application is in addition to the online admission application.

Please print the Dual Enrollment Registration Form and submit your completed form to your high school counselor or college recruiter. All forms must indicate a course name and if you do not know the CRN, please indicate the time/day of the class. CRNs for courses offered at the college may be located on the RSCC Schedule. Dual enrollment courses conducted on a high school campus are not included on the online list of classes.

Dual enrollment courses conducted on a high school campus are not included on the online list of classes. Your high school counselor can provide you with a list of dual courses being offered at your school by RSCC. The Admissions Office can enroll you in the course if the course name and day/time are indicated, based on your high school information.

Once you have been accepted as a college student, the Admissions and Records Office will process your course registration and enroll you in the requested course(s).

Check RaiderNet for Registration Status

You will not be officially enrolled until all items for admissions and registration are received. Once you have been accepted as a college student, the Student Enrollment Office will process your course registration and enroll you in the requested course(s).

You can check the status of your registration process, in RaiderNet. Directions to establish a new RaiderNet account are provided on the Web site. The first time you sign on, you will use your Social Security number, but this number will be replaced with your new student ID number. Your PIN number will initially be a six-digit number composed of your birth date (month/day/last 2 digits of birth year). Please change your password. If you have difficulties accessing your account, the Help Desk is available during college operating hours.

It is your responsibility to go to RaiderNet on the Roane State Web site to confirm that paperwork is processed and to know if fees are due. Not paying college fees automatically drops you from the course(s).

Submit Transcript

Provide a copy of your high school transcript with your school counselor. It will be picked up by RSCC.
