A new endowment will help adults from Morgan County complete their education at Roane State Community College.
The purpose of the endowment is to help students enrich their lives and increase the knowledge and skills needed for their chosen career; made possible through higher education. Established by Neal and Jeanne Richardson of Lancing and administered by the Roane State Foundation, the endowment will fund an annual scholarship valued at approximately $1,000.
The scholarship is intended to help students who are not eligible for grants such as the HOPE scholarship or the Tennessee Promise scholarship.
To be eligible for the scholarship, the student must be enrolled full-time; have financial need; plan to major in a science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) subject, or study to become a teacher of a STEM subject, or major in a health sciences field; and maintain at least a 2.5 GPA.
