Parent & Family Workshops

The Office of Parent & Family Engagement is pleased to announce it will offer workshops for parents and family members of students accepted for the summer and/or fall 2018 semester. The workshops will be especially beneficial for first-generation parents and family members. It is structured to show how the college works so you can be better informed as you support your student through the college process. You will learn about the many resources available at the college as well as tips geared to help you guide your student.
Workshops will be offered in the evening at each of the higher education centers and will be approximately 2 hours. Success coaches will do presentations to help you understand the advising process and the important role they will play in your student's first year. Faculty representatives will also speak on what is expected of students along with tips on how to succeed in the classroom.

In addition to the workshops: Parent and Family Orientations

Roane State is also offering Parent and Family Orientations. They will run at the same time as the New Student Orientations so family members can conveniently ride together. If you wish to attend a Parent & Family Orientation, which will run about 3 hours and be more in-depth, your student can register you when they sign up for a New Student Orientation.
