Roane State Community College’s dental hygiene program has again received the 100% Faculty Recognition Award for 2018 from the American Dental Hygienists’ Association. The program was also honored last year.
The highly competitive program was the only dental hygiene program in Tennessee to receive the recognition, said director Melinda Gill. “I could not be more proud,” she said.
The association’s award is bestowed when all faculty members in a dental hygiene program are also members of the ADHA, Gill said. “I am truly proud of the dental hygiene faculty and their dedication as role models for our students,” she said.
The program received a certificate of achievement and was recognized in the August edition of Access magazine, which is published online and distributed nationwide to the 30,000 members of the ADHA.
She said members of Roane State’s dental hygiene faculty are dedicated professionals who support the profession and Roane State’s program.
“What a testimony to the great things the Roane State Community College dental hygiene faculty is doing for our students, program and college,” Gill said of the recognition.
The dental hygiene program is widely regarded for its rigorous curriculum and standards. Students routinely score in the top 3 percent nationwide on national dental hygiene board certification scores. To learn more about the program, visit roanestate.edu/dentalhygiene.
