Constitution of the Music Orientation Experience Club of Roane State Community College

Article I

Purpose

Section I:

The Name of this organization shall be Music Orientation Experience (MOE) of Roane State Community College.

Section II:

Being aware of what our clubs purposes are, we, the students of Roane State Community
College accept the responsibility of providing an experience to educate other students and
further the knowledge of music for everyone, as well as giving back to our community.

Section III:

All members of this organization will be subject to this Constitution and other official
actions of the club, and are entitled to the rules and regulations defined by this
constitution.

Article II

Membership and Structure

Section I:

Each student shall be considered as member of Music Orientation Experience by
attending Meetings, fundraising events, community service actions, and performances. A
voting quorum is at least 3 current club members. A member can miss up to 3 meetings
per semester before being put on a probation period.

Section II:

The club will consist of a board of officers that will represent MOE club members. Except in the event of a tie, the board will consist of one president and a Vice-president.

  1. The President of the club will hold meetings as well as help promote the club to its fullest. The President of the club will be responsible for getting out information to the club and giving vast opportunities for participation in events. The President will also be held responsible for keeping the website up to date with the Faculty Sponsor and Webmaster. In the event of a tie, one Co-President will act as a Pubic Relations President, conducting meetings, meeting with members about issues, and being the face of MOE. The other will act as a Legal President (business manager), managing budgets and paperwork; the Legal President will also use knowledge of parliamentary procedure to keep the meeting running in order. 
  2. The Vice President will be responsible to hold meetings if for any reason the President(s) cannot be present at the meeting. Also, the Vice President will be in charge of taking minutes in each meeting, sending typed agendas and minutes to the Faculty Sponsor, and posting on the Music Department Facebook page. In the event of a tie, one Vice President will act as a Secretary, fulfilling the secretarial duties of the Vice President. The other will act as a Webmaster, updating the Facebook page and website.
  3. Decisions on what the clubs will do will be a majority vote between the club members and their officers.
  4. Each member of MOE must participate in at least one committee.

Section III:

To become an elected officer, one may nominate themselves or be nominated by another club member. Majority vote will elect officers.

  1. Officers may NOT serve two consecutive years in the same office.

Article III

Constitutional Amendments

Section I:

This constitution may be amended.

Section II:

The amending procedure shall be as follows:

  1. The club shall have the power to initiate the amending process by a two-thirds majority vote.
  2. All proposed amendments passed by the club must be ratified by a majority of those members voting.
  3. Upon approval by the club, all amendments shall be considered henceforth a part of this constitution.

Article IV

Resignation

Section I:

Officers of the club who wish to resign from their position must submit a formal letter of resignation to the faculty advisor of the club.

Section II:

Any officer that resigned will be replaced by another member of the club.

Section III:

In the event that an officer is not fulfilling the duties that their position holds, the members of the club along with faculty sponsors can decide the action that needs to be taken to correct the problem.
