Five Roane State Community College students received scholarships through the Oak Ridge Institute for Continued Learning (ORICL).

Roane State and ORICL have a partnership that spans two decades. Established in 1997, ORICL offers dozens of enrichment courses for its members in classrooms provided at Roane State’s Oak Ridge campus.

In addition, ORICL has established multiple scholarships supported by its members.

Sara Nesbitt of Oak Ridge, Candice Day of Knoxville and Ivorie Hicks of Clinton received the John Million Scholarship, totaling $5,000 in awards for fall and spring.

“I love helping people, being creative, and finding ways to help people live the way they want to live,” Nesbitt said of her chosen field, occupational therapy assistant.

Jessica Osborn of Powell received a $600 scholarship through the ORICL Scholarship Endowment.

A certified pharmacy technician, Osborn said she plans to start Roane State’s respiratory therapy program because she “wants to be hands-on with patients.”

Gage Dotson of Centerville received the $295 Bob Jones Memorial Scholarship.
