For the third year in a row, Roane State Community College's dental hygiene program has received the 100% Faculty Recognition Award from the American Dental Hygienists' Association.
The program was again the only one in Tennessee to receive the honor, director Melinda Gill said.
The recognition is bestowed when all full and part-time faculty members in a dental hygiene program are also members of the association.
"I am once again pleased with the dedication that the dental faculty have in being active in our profession in order to provide current dental concepts to our students," Gill said.
Roane State's program will be recognized in the August edition of "Access" magazine, which is published online and distributed across the country to association members.
The association represents the interests of more than 185,000 dental hygienists in America.
Roane State's dental hygiene program is well known for its high standards and demanding curriculum. Students regularly rank in the top 3 percent nationwide on national dental hygiene board certification scores.
Roane State is a two-year college providing transfer programs, career-preparation programs and continuing education. Founded in 1971, the college has campuses in Crossville, Harriman, Huntsville, Jamestown, Knoxville, LaFollette, Lenoir City, Oak Ridge, Wartburg and Clinton.
