Welcome to the website of the RSCC chapter of the American Association of University Professors. Since 1915 the AAUP has been promoting sound academic practices and working for those practices to be accepted by the higher education community, as well as by national and state legislators. If you have any questions or need to contact RSCC's AAUP chapter, please contact Connie Blalock, Chapter President 2021-22.
The purpose of the American Association of University Professors is to advance academic freedom and shared governance, to define fundamental professional values and standards for higher education, and to ensure higher education's contribution to the common good.
The AAUP at RSCC promotes the activities and values of the AAUP on the state and campus level. We hold regular business meetings to discuss topics pertaining to tenure, academic freedom, and shared governance. We monitor policies regarding academic freedom, tenure, and promotion; advocate for better salaries and benefits, including those for adjunct faculty; and assist faculty who believe their rights have been violated. Our goal is to provide the faculty of RSCC an organized voice through which to discuss concerns and communicate issues.
