Roane State is one of just 11 colleges in North America recently accepted into the Financial Management for Entrepreneurs Curriculum Initiative Phase II. The pilot program is the result of a partnership between the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) and Intuit, maker of TurboTax, QuickBooks and Mint.
The pilot’s main goal is to empower future entrepreneurs with the right financial management tools and skills required for long-term business success, according to a news release from NACCE. Using this curriculum, future and current entrepreneurs will have a solid foundation of how to manage their business finances and their own personal finances.
Intuit launched the Financial Management for Entrepreneurs Curriculum Initiative in 2018 targeting an initial six community colleges across the nation. Intuit and NACCE have selected additional colleges to participate in this initiative for 2020. Roane State is the only college from Tennessee selected and is one of only two colleges from the southeastern U.S. to be chosen for this phase.
A grant will provide software access to participants enrolled in classes and dynamic training modules for instructors and participants. Classes will be primarily offered to non-credit participants through the Cumberland Business Incubator (CBI) in Crossville and through other Roane State campus locations.
