She also ranked third in the conference in digs (292), digs per set (5.41) and fourth in service aces per set (0.33).

Additionally, Smith was named to the All-Region VII Volleyball Team for 2020-2021. Joining her with All-Region accolades are fellow freshmen Taryn Lane and Sally Spangler.

Lane, a defensive specialist and libero from Seymour, Tenn., led the league with a total of 401 digs this season. Her 7.43 digs per set also led the league and were third-best in the nation.

Spangler is an outside hitter, led the Raiders in blocks (26) and blocks per set (0.48). The graduate of Gibbs High School in Knoxville, She also contributed 1.63 kills per set.

The Raiders volleyball team finished their inaugural season with a 5-8 record. Despite the late start and shorter season due to COVID-19, the team ended in a tie for second place in the TCCAA with Chattanooga St.

Coach Steve Dallman’s team returns to the practice court in late Summer and will begin their second season in the Fall.
