Study Abroad - Past Programs

Roane State Community College has a long history of providing opportunities for students to study abroad. Even before the state of Tennessee acknowledged the need for these types of programs, RSCC was actively involved with study abroad programs and with hosting international students. The college has primarily offered programs that are taught by RSCC faculty and are limited to participation of RSCC students. The majority of our programs involve classroom time during the spring semester, followed by a 10 to 15 day international travel experience.

Partnership programs with Community Colleges for International Development (CCID) have also played a large role in allowing faculty and students to travel to countries not offered by the college. These programs linked RSCC faculty and students with faculty and students from other community colleges for study and travel abroad Although CCID partnership programs ended in 2017, RSCC has continued to plan study abroad programs utilizing contacts made during those programs.

Roane State is also a member of the Tennessee Consortium for International Studies (TnCIS). TnCIS was formed in 2006 by the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR). Their programs combine international travel with courses relevant to the countries/locations visited and are a minimum of three weeks in length. Although available to all RSCC students, only a few have elected to participate in TnCIS programs in France, Italy, Spain and in a multi-country program in Eastern Europe.

More than 650 students have participated in RSCC study abroad programs in the following countries:
