Getting Started with Prior Learning Credit by Exam or Portfolio

How to get started

Contact the Dean of Student Academic Support Services for an initial consultation. The Dean may direct you to a subject matter expert/faculty member to further discuss your credentials and intended career goals. However, the Dean will guide you through the process required to document your prior learning experience and potential awarding of credit.

How the credit appears on your transcript

A grade of "P" for passing will be assigned to any credit earned through PLA. No quality points will be assigned for such coursework, and coursework earned through this method will not be used in calculating the student’s grade point average (GPA) or graduation residency status.

There is a maximum alternative credit allowed limit.
