News: Oct 1-31: Donate to STEA's "Sock-tober" fall service project

Socks on feet.

October 1, 2024

Roane State's Student Tennessee Education Association (STEA) chapter works on a service project each semester that benefits K-12 students and teachers in our area.

This fall, the STEA is hosting a “Sock-tober” event to collect new socks for elementary aged children (grades K-5). Donations will be accepted through October 31, 2024. Socks can be various sizes, colors, quantities, and patterns.

"While shoes are often donated to children, socks are not," Associate Professor of Education and STEA Sponsor Stacie Bradshaw explained.

"Many of our local K-12 teachers and our very own students have noticed that children in the classes they are observing do not have socks that fit them properly, or do not have socks at all," Bradshaw added. "It is their hope to collect as many pairs of socks as possible to help as many students as we can, especially with cold weather approaching."

If you would like to donate to the STEA service project, you can place your donation of new socks in one of the donation boxes on our campuses. Donation box locations are as follows:

If you have any questions, please reach out to Associate Professor Bradshaw by emailing bradshawsn@roanestate.edu. Additional information about Roane State's STEA chapter is available on the Clubs and Organizations page.
