A Loudon County resale store has increased its annual gift to help award additional scholarships to Loudon County students enrolled at Roane State.
The Good Neighbors Shoppe grant for $30,000 was presented to Roane State Foundation just before the end of the spring semester and will be used to fund multiple scholarships in the upcoming academic year. Fall classes at Roane State begin August 19 and the scholarship award announcement process will begin soon.
"We see the need in our area and know that access to higher education is so important to the success of our citizens,” said Leslie Capozzoli, volunteer and vice president of the Good Neighbors Shoppe Board of Directors. “We are proud to partner with Roane State to assist students in Loudon County and give back to our community.”
The Good Neighbors Shoppe has been a dedicated supporter of higher education for students in Loudon County for years. The business doubled its annual $10,000 gift to Roane State Foundation in 2023. The total donation amount was then stepped up to $25,000 for 2025 and increased by another $5,000 this year to help even more students.
“We’re so grateful to the incredible folks at Good Neighbors Shoppe for continuing to invest in the success of Roane State students,” Foundation Executive Director Scott Niermann said. “The number of students seeking an affordable, convenient, and high quality education continues to rise as Loudon County remains one of Tennessee’s fastest-growing communities. These scholarships can remove financial barriers so local students can achieve their goals.”
Good Neighbors Shoppe is an all-volunteer nonprofit selling gently used and new clothing, housewares, books, antiques, collectibles, outdoor gear, furniture, and more.
The shop is located at 420 Leeper Parkway in Lenoir City and has been open for over 20 years. During that time, the shop has donated more than $9,000,000 to Loudon County organizations and individuals in need. To learn more about Good Neighbors Shoppe, visit gnshoppe.org.
