Roane State Community College

Formerly known as the GED, the high school equivalency test (HiSET) is administered at our Roane County (Harriman) Campus and our Oak Ridge Branch Campus. All potential examinees are encouraged to visit the State of Tennessee HiSET webpage for valuable information regarding registering with an Adult Education Office.

Eligibility Requirements

In Tennessee, you must meet the following eligibility requirements to take the HiSET.

• AGE: You must be at least 18 years of age without a high school diploma or high school equivalency certificate to take the HiSET. If you are 17 years old you must have an age waiver signed by the Director of Schools before you can test. 
• RESIDENCY: You do not have to be a resident of Tennessee to take the HiSET.
• IDENTIFICATION: You must present identification on test day. A valid driver's license, passport, military ID, or other form of government issued (national or foreign) identification that shows name, address, date of birth, signature and photo are acceptable forms of identification. Outdated or expired identification will not be accepted.

To find an Adult Education program near you, please call 865-594-0766 or visit the Adult Education webpage. They can provide information regarding registration. When you are ready to take the HiSET they can help get you scheduled and pay your fees.

GED and HiSET Transcripts

GED/HiSET Transcript databases are no longer accessible by Testing Centers. To receive a copy of your GED/HiSET transcript you must contact:
