Criminal background checks and drug/alcohol screens are a requirement at affiliated clinical sites. Based on the result of these checks, an affiliated clinical site may determine not to allow a student at their facility. This could result in the student’s inability to successfully complete the requirements of this program. Additionally, a criminal background may preclude licensure or employment.

Professional practice experiences are required. These experiences may be simulated as well as ‘hands on’ in assigned clinical agencies. Professional practice courses require face-to-face interaction with faculty and/or clinical site supervisors.

You will notice the curriculum for the HIM on TN eCampus option is slightly different than the traditional HIM curriculum at Roane State Community College however the topics covered are the same. All competencies required by the accrediting body are covered in both curriculums.

You can see the projected sequence of courses for the HIM on TN eCampus option below. Note this sequence is designed to begin after one has completed developmental study courses, if required. Please contact the HIM Program Director, April Insco, for any questions regarding the curriculum.
