Music Majors

1. Audition: No audition is necessary. You must make an appointment with Dr. Greenlee and Prof. Luggie before the beginning of your first semester as a Music Major. You may be asked to demonstrate on your instrument.
2. Scholarship: You will automatically get a scholarship. You must complete the foundation scholarship application by May 31. (Award is based on availability)
3. Vocalists: If you are a vocalist you must enroll in both MUS 112 Roane State Concert Choir and MUS 150 Roane State Vocal Ensemble. Celebration is not offered at this time.
4. Instrumentalists: If you are an instrumentalist you must enroll in both MUS 116 Roane State Concert Band and MUS 160 Roane State Instrumental Ensemble. Stage Band is not offered at this time. If MUS 117 Jazz Band or MUS 121 Bluegrass Band is available (based on discretion of Music Coordinator) they may be substituted for Roane State Concert band. This is only if you are interested in improvisation or your instrument is more suited to these ensembles. 
5. Requirements of the scholarship include: commitment to numerous on and off campus performances; responsibility for attendance, preparedness, positive attitude, and integrity; responsibilities related to the ensemble such as fundraising, advertising, organizing, decorating, equipment delivery/set-up/tear-down, and other duties at the discretion of the Music Coordinator and appropriate ensemble director.

Non-Music Majors

3. Vocalists: If you are a vocalist you may enroll in MUS 150 Roane State Vocal Ensemble and/or MUS 112 Roane State Concert Choir. Celebration is not offered at this time.
4. Instrumentalists: If you are an instrumentalist you may enroll in MUS 160 Roane State Instrumental Ensemble and/or MUS 116 Roane State Concert Band. You may also enroll in MUS 117 Jazz Band or MUS 121 Bluegrass Band if they are available. (based on discretion of Music Coordinator) Pep Band is not a class and does not require enrollment. Simply contact Dr. Greenlee if you are interested in Pep Band.
