News: Professor earns prestigious honor

Roane State Community College computer science professor Dr. George Meghabghab was recently named Course Developer of the Decade by the Regents Online Campus Collaborative (ROCC).

The ROCC provides comprehensive educational programs and courses through a coordinated network of colleges, universities and technology centers across the state. Roane State is part of the ROCC.

Meghabghab developed three online computer science courses in 2001 that are still being taught through the ROCC. He has been an active member of the ROCC Curriculum Committee for eight years and the Educational Technology Committee at Roane State for two years. In addition to his numerous published journal articles, Meghabghab has written two books.

He continually strives for improvement in his courses by utilizing developer tools in the content management system, working with content providers to design learning aids and conducting course design research. Meghabghab also works closely with faculty who teach ROCC courses.
