News: Sports rewind: Gibson has back-to-back 20-point games

Sports rewind is a look back at recent results for Roane State’s men’s and women’s basketball teams.

Roane State women

The Raiderettes (8-7) picked up a pair of wins during the holiday break.

Roane State split two games at a tournament in Cincinnati, beating Rio Grande JV 80-73 and falling to Cincinnati State 101-84.

Against Rio Grande, Kayla Gibson scored 23 points, while Jill Herman added 15 points. Takyah Gilmore (11 points) and Crystal Garrett (10 points) also were in double figures. Kayla Kimes and Kristina Stephens each had nine rebounds.

Gibson scored 22 points against Cincinnati State. Herman had 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Shannon Parks scored 17 points. Gilmore added 10 points and seven rebounds.

Roane State beat Georgia Perimeter 63-55 on Dec. 19. Gilmore scored 25 points and grabbed five rebounds. Herman scored 13 points and added eight assists, while Gibson tallied seven points and 15 rebounds.

The Raiders fell to ninth-ranked Vincennes University 79-57 in the Beckes Sodexo Classic in Vincennes, Ind.
