Sports rewind is a look back at recent results for Roane State’s men’s and women’s basketball teams.
Roane State women
The Raiderettes improved to 10-7 last week with two big road wins.
Roane State defeated West Georgia Technical College 68-42 on Jan. 11. Takyah Gilmore scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Crystal Garrett also had a double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds).
Jill Herman added 13 points. Roane State’s defense was suffocating, forcing 22 turnovers and allowing only four assists. The Raiderettes outrebounded West Georgia 57-36.
The Raiderettes beat Spartanburg Methodist on Jan. 14. Gilmore again had a big night with 24 points and eight rebounds, while Kayla Gibson tallied 24 points and 11 rebounds. Gibson hit 4-of-6 from 3-point range. Jill Herman contributed 15 points and five assists. The Raiderettes’ defense forced 28 turnovers, and Gilmore had 10 steals. Kayla Kimes tallied eight steals.
Roane State men
The Roane State men (11-5) won handily against a couple of non-conference opponents (96-59 over Lee University JV and 97-67 over Tennessee Temple JV). The Raiders return to conference play this week.
