Fundamentals of chemical plant energy sources; concepts and operational principles of cooling towers, boilers, reactors, heat exchangers, columns, and refrigeration; introduction to plant machinery and equipment including electric motors and transmissions; human error prevention, safety, and preventative maintenance procedures are emphasized; lecture 2 hours, lab 3 hours. Effective 2024 Fall Semester, the following will be changing for CHET 1300:

The course description is changing to: Fundamentals of chemical plant energy sources; concepts and operational principles of cooling towers, boilers, reactors, heat exchangers, distillation columns, pumps, compressors, and instrumentation introduction. This course introduces students to principles of process equipment and technology. This includes the functions of process operations including instruments used to monitor and control chemical processes. Multiple simulation programs are used during these studies to reaffirm the learning principles in an operating plant platform including process data collection / analysis and control room operations. lecture 2 hours, lab 3 hours.
