Course Description

An overview of the role and legal responsibilities of the classroom teacher with an emphasis on current teaching strategies and best practices in education. The course also provides instruction in classroom management, student academic learning levels and diverse backgrounds, the workings of a school, a brief history of education, the components of an effective lesson plan, incorporating technology into instruction, as well as preparing effectively for the hiring process. Observation/Field Experience/Service Learning is required for this course.
(Note: An additional cost of a criminal background check and liability insurance may be required for Observation/Field Experience/Service Learning. Students may also be required to attend an out of class orientation and/or professional development events.)
