Course Description

A general survey of the major political, social, economic, and cultural developments in Western Civilization from the Ancient World to 1715. Emphasis on the Greek World, the Roman Empire, feudal Europe, Renaissance, Reformation, constitutional monarchy in England in the 17th century and the triumph of absolute monarchy in France under Louis XIV. (HIST 2210 and HIST 2220 can be taken in any order. Pre- or corequisite: ENGL 1010 or an ACT sub-score of 27 or better in English.) F, Sp, Su
