Harriman native and Roane State Community College alumnus Dr. E. Scott Sills has donated a copy of his new book to the Roane State Library.

Dr. Sills is the medical director at the California-based Center for Advanced Genetics. He has been in full-time IVF practice since completing his reproductive endocrinology fellowship at Cornell University in 1998.

The book, “Fighting at the Fertility Front,” addresses deeply personal issues encountered by service members from all branches of the U.S. armed forces. Published by First Edition Press, the book runs about 300 pages and has separate sections for men and women. The narrative follows their journeys from reception and basic training to far-away destinations like the open burn pits of Afghanistan.

Chapters discuss the fertility concerns of veterans with, for example, combat-related spinal cord injuries and veterans who were exposed to Agent Orange.
