Six Roane State Community College paralegal students were chosen for membership in Lambda Epsilon Chi (LEX) National Paralegal Honor Society.

LEX was founded by the American Association for Paralegal Education and includes more than 170 chapters nationwide. Eligible students must have a minimum 3.25 overall GPA and a 3.5 GPA in their paralegal classes.

The members are Brandy Carroll of Jellico, Rebekah Davis of Oak Ridge, Natasha Deck of Crossville, Katherine Johnson of Pioneer, Tylyn Pass of Oak Ridge and Deborah Yantis of Loudon.

Paralegals, also known as legal assistants, work under the supervision of an attorney and assist with tasks such as research, client interviews and drafting of pleadings and communications.

Paralegals have many employment options including but not limited to law firms, corporations, county clerk’s offices, banks, title companies and state agencies.
